SURFfilesender: for any file format
You can easily send very large files containing research data with SURFfilesender, such as genome sequences or astronomical observations. But SURFfilesender is also suitable for smaller files, such as reports.
Secure and reliable with encryption
SURFfilesender ensures your files are sent securely. Uploaded files are stored in the Netherlands for up to 21 days. Although SURFfilesender is secure by default, as a user you can also opt for additional security in the form of encryption. Files up to 2 GB can be sent with encryption. To do this, you send a “key” to the recipient via a second channel (for example, by phone or text message). The recipient then enters this key to download the file. This way, you control who has access to your valuable research data or other privacy-sensitive files.
Fast and user-friendly
SURFfilesender is very easy to use. You don’t need to install anything to send or receive files. All you and the recipient need is a modern browser. SURFfilesender is linked to SURFconext, allowing you to easily log in with your own institutional account. Guest access is also available, so files can be securely exchanged with people who do not have a SURFfilesender license.
