The purpose of this Privacy Statement is to inform you of the methods we use to collect information on visitors to our website.
Scope
SURFspot is an online store run by SURF bv (hereinafter: ‘SURF’). Under the Personal Data Protection Act (Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens or Wbp) SURFmarket is designated as the party responsible for processing personal data via SURFspot. For purposes of clarity, this Privacy Statement will use the name ‘SURFspot’. SURFspot attaches great importance to the privacy of customers and visitors to the website. We therefore secure and process personal data with the greatest possible care. SURFspot observes the requirements prescribed by the Personal Data Protection Act (Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens or Wbp).
Security
As SURFspot, we acknowledge our responsibility to provide effective security for the personal data we collect, and use SSL (a Secure Socket Layer) to ensure the security of personal data. SSL is a commonly accepted technology that is used to secure online connections, using asymmetrical cryptography to do so. SURFspot users are authenticated using an authentication service supplied by member institutions. SURFconext is used as the authentication mechanism. Personal details are not stored any longer than is necessary for the purpose for which they are processed.
Data processing
We collect our customers' address, country and e-mail information, and store it in a customer database. We record the education (or other) institution to which our customers are affiliated, as well as to which target group they belong (e.g. student or employee). The only website visitor details processed are those required to authenticate the visitor. We use our customers' personal data to process orders as quickly as possible, to develop and improve our services and to make special offers. We will never issue personal details to third parties unless required by law or necessary for the performance of the contract that we have concluded with you.
SURFspot mailings
SURFspot sends out mailings containing special offers and news. We will not add your e-mail address to our list of subscribers unless you have granted your express permission. Every mailing contains an ‘unsubscribe’ link. We will not make our subscriber database available to any third parties.
Rights of individuals
You are entitled to view your personal information, and to modify it if any details are incorrect or missing. You may also delete your personal details if you wish. To do so, please contact the SURFspot customer service via info@surfspot.nl.
Supplier and third-party websites
We wish to inform you that, should you visit the websites of affiliated suppliers and/or third parties, it is the privacy policies of these third parties and not the SURFspot privacy policy that will apply to any activities that you carry out and to any information that you make public via these sites. We do our utmost to ensure that our suppliers and/or other affiliated third parties pursue acceptable privacy policies.
